An infrared gas transmitter is a device used to detect and measure the concentration of specific gases in the environment, using infrared light absorption technology. This technology is based on the principle that different gases absorb infrared light at specific wavelengths. By measuring the amount of infrared light absorbed, the device can determine the concentration of the gas present.

Bacharach GasPlus-IR series infrared gas transmitters, powered by 24 VDC, use infrared absorption technology to monitor the level of combustible hydrocarbon gases (Model 4688-IR) or CO2 (Model 4679-IR) in the surrounding atmosphere and transmit an analog (4-20 mA) or digital (Modbus) signal that is proportional to the measured concentration. The output signal is linear for the specific gas being measured. Linearization curves for various gases are integrated into the instrument and can be selected by the user.
