A power transducer is a device used to measure and convert electrical power into an analog or digital signal that can be processed, monitored, or recorded by control, automation, or measurement systems. It is widely used in industrial, commercial, and research electrical systems to monitor energy consumption and efficiency.
Operating Principle
The AC input voltages and currents, through auxiliary transformers, are converted into appropriate signals which are sent to a multiplier circuit that operates on the TDM (Time Division Multiplication) principle, instantly multiplying the voltage and current signals. The resulting signal from this multiplication is amplified and converted into a load-independent output signal, which can be DC voltage or current. The multiplier and amplifier circuits are powered by an auxiliary voltage source, galvanically isolated through a transformer suitable for the circuit.
The TRX-Q power transducer is used to convert a given value of active or reactive power, respectively, into a direct current or voltage signal, proportional to the measured value.
