A timer relay, also known as a time relay, is an electromechanical or electronic device used to control the operating time of an electrical circuit. It is designed to delay or time the activation or deactivation of an electrical device or load, allowing precise control of the time at which an event occurs.
They were developed to protect three-phase electrical equipment that cannot operate when there are anomalies such as phase loss, three-phase sequence inversion, unbalance between phases, and undervoltage or overvoltage. Mounted in compact plastic cases, they can be housed in small spaces and offer high resistance to shocks, vibrations, and an easy mounting system on DIN rails or with screws.
With the balanced three-phase network and the correct sequence connected to the device, the supervisor's output relays will be energized (inhibition time). If a turn-on delay time is selected, the relay will be energized after the defined period and will remain so until one of the following occurs:
Unbalance between phases.
Phase sequence.
Under or overvoltage.
These supervisors detect phase loss with a return voltage level in the interrupted phase of less than 80% of the supply voltage. The relays have adjustable times for turn-on delay or inhibition (selected via the front slider) and another for turn-off delay. Their energized or de-energized output signaling is done via an LED; when lit, it indicates an energized relay.
