A line current differential relay is a device used to protect electrical systems against short-circuit faults or differential overloads. It monitors the difference between the input and output currents of an electrical system, such as a transformer, motor, or transmission line, and acts to shut down the system if this difference exceeds a predetermined value.

Line Current Differential Protection – Protect two-terminal transmission and sub-transmission lines with current transformers (CTs) of the same ratio at each end. Apply a 64 kbps digital communication channel for complete phase and ground fault protection with simple settings.

Differential Communications—Apply the SEL-387L Line Current Differential Relay with a multiplexed communication system using single-mode fiber optics or the integrated IEEE C37.94-compliant connection. Connect to EIA-422 and G.703 multiplexers using the SEL-3094 Interface Converter.

Easy application
