Altus AL-2005 Multitasking Processor Module

The Real-Time Multitasking Processor AL-2005 is a communication and algorithm processor that operates in conjunction
with AL-2003 or AL-2004 CPUs.
The AL-2005 processor can perform various tasks such as communicating with other equipment using
any protocols, mathematical calculations, and application programs written in high-level language ("C" language).
It can be used to perform highly complex tasks, freeing up the main processor to perform its conventional tasks,
such as scanning and actuation, allowing for a more balanced distribution of the processing load
between the two processors.
The AL-2005 processor supports writing traditional sequential applications or multitasking applications.
The latter allows for more efficient use of processor time, as
any task that does not require the CPU at a given moment can release it for another
task or application.
The executive program of the AL-2005, also called BIOS, is a preemptive real-time multitasking operating system,
that supports the simultaneous execution of several application programs. To do this,
it provides a library of functions to the application designer.
Through the support of this function library, it is possible to:
. develop multitasking applications using functions for task creation, event waiting,
resource waiting, semaphores, task identification, etc.;
. use floating-point arithmetic;
. perform dynamic memory allocation;
. access CP operands, through read and write functions for simple operands and
. access serial boards connected to the AL-2005 hardware, in RS-485 or RS-232C standard.
Serial communication with other equipment is done through optional modules coupled to the
AL-2005/RTMP. Each of these modules implements a different physical communication standard
(RS-485 or RS-232).
The photo shows the AL-2005 module with a communication interface coupled.
From the perspective of the CPU application program, all communication between the AL-2005/RTMP and the
CP or Remote CPU is performed through shared operand memory, in a user-transparent manner.
For this communication, the F-2005.016 function module is used, supplied along with the AL-2005/RTMP product.
The AL-2005/RTMP architecture is based on the 16-bit Intel 80C186 microprocessor, which has high integration of hardware resources and is especially suitable for industrial applications. The instruction code of this microprocessor is compatible with that of other Intel microprocessors used in compatible PC computers (80386, 80486, and others).
