An interface module is a device that enables communication between different systems or devices in an industrial installation, such as between PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), sensors, actuators, and other automation equipment. It acts as an intermediary, translating signals and ensuring that equipment with different protocols, signal types, or voltage levels can communicate correctly.
The AL-3405 Ethernet network interface module, part of the AL-2000 series, is designed for connection to standard Ethernet local area networks. It implements communication between CPs/remotes and/or between CPs/remotes and supervisory systems using the TCP/IP transport protocol, with an ALNET II application layer. The AL-3405 interface allows the CPU to connect to open communication networks that advance the TCP/IP standard. The module offers electrical Ethernet interfaces (AUI - Adapter Unit Interface) and Cheapernet (thin 50 Ω cable). This CT is valid for AL-3405 interfaces with version 2.00 or higher. F Ethernet Module Software The F Ethernet Module Software allows the AL-2003 and AL-2004 programmable drivers to access, through the F-ETHER.094 function, the diagnostics and operating statistics of the AL-3405 Ethernet network interface, as well as allowing the configuration of some parameters that alter its operating characteristics. The AL-3405 board diagnostics allow the evaluation of its operating mode, as well as the quality of communication with the Ethernet network. The F Ethernet Module Software is not necessary to operate the AL-3405 Ethernet network interface, but it allows improving its performance, in addition to facilitating the detection of problems with the interface and the network through the provided diagnostics.
